Hassen Chalghoumi, a French imam known for his work creating interfaith dialogue and understanding, met with IDF Brigadier General Ronen Manelis, during his visit the first week of July. After the meeting, the men recorded a video together, hoping to improve coexistence. In the video, imam Chalghoumi condemned violence and terror, specifically from the Muslim Brotherhood, HAMAS and Iran; his effort was rewarded with death threats from the Muslim community.
Do the people threatening his life condone violence and terror? Or, is death the penalty for simply meeting with a Jew? Either way, “peace and tolerance” don’t seem to be part of their particular strain of Islam.
